Learn to recognize fraud

Criminals are always coming up with new ways to find out what your personal information is so they can steal your money. This is called fraud. It may take the form of a fake email, text message, or call. So, always be alert when someone is trying to contact you.

Phishing: fishing for data

Phishing is where criminals try to get access to your PIN, card number, login code, or signature code. They will therefore send you a message with a link to a fake website to enter the data. Do not do this.

We will never ask you to do the following by email, text message, or any other communication:

send your debit card enter your PIN or password online request a new debit card log in

What if you receive a color code?

We will never contact you by email, text message, or any other communication with a color code or QR code to scan.

Recognizing fake emails

Fraudsters may send you an email in Rabobank’s name. The Fraudehelpdesk (fraud help desk) website contains all the fake emails that are currently circulating.

Spoofing: pretending to be someone else

With spoofing, criminals pretend to be someone else. Criminals use clever tricks to make their phone number or the sender of a text message look different. To the recipient, it looks like a text message, WhatsApp message, or phone call is coming from Rabobank.

Always check first whether the message is genuine. If you get a call from someone who says they are from our customer service team, never provide your details and do not make any transfers. Ask questions, be critical, and hang up the phone if you don’t trust what you are hearing.

Tip! Spoofing can also happen by text message. The message may look like it is from Rabobank, but it is not. Never click a link in a text message and do not call the phone number shown in the message. Are you unsure? Always contact Rabobank yourself by using the official phone number or the Rabo App.
