On the road to more sustainable transport in Europe
Global finance company DLL, a subsidiary of Rabobank, and Iveco Group recently partnered to accelerate the transition to low- and zero-emission commercial vehicles in Europe. Together they are making it easier for companies to switch to electric and low-emission vehicles.
New partnership
Iveco Group is a major manufacturer of trucks and buses. The company formed a joint venture with DLL around GATE. GATE was previously wholly owned by Iveco Group but is now 51% owned by DLL and 49% by Iveco Group.
Through this partnership, GATE has the financial means and knowledge to grow faster.
What does GATE do?
GATE helps companies drive more sustainably through long-term rental of low- and zero-emission commercial vehicles. The rental solution is tailored to what a transport company needs. GATE also offers a digital ecosystem and high-quality services (such as road tax, insurance, maintenance and repair) through premium partners.
GATE started in Italy in 2023 and expanded to France and Germany in 2024. The GATE joint venture plans to expand further to countries where DLL and Iveco Group operate. GATE also aims to eventually offer services for brands other than Iveco.
Why is this important?
Europe is working toward cleaner transport to protect the climate. Many companies want to switch to electric or other environmentally friendly vehicles, but this is expensive. By enabling companies to rent vehicles instead of buying them, the financial barrier is lower. GATE makes this step even easier by arranging financing and services in a full-service solution (similar to what we already know from leasing passenger cars).

DLL, Iveco Group and GATE aim to help more and more businesses across Europe transition to sustainable transport. GATE helps businesses access cleaner vehicles, meaning more clean vehicles on the road and less harmful emissions. Through DLL, Rabobank contributes to the sustainability of mobility in Europe.
