International payment details – BIC (SWIFT address) and IBAN

To make an international payment, you need the Bank Identifier Code (BIC), country code and IBAN of the bank to which you’re transferring the amount.

International payments using the IBAN or BIC

Payments made to an account within the SEPA region using the IBAN

Since the implementation of the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA) in 2014, Europe has had a single common market for payments. To transfer money within the SEPA region, the only account number you need is an IBAN.

Countries within the SEPA region

The SEPA region consists of all EU member states plus Andorra, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Monaco, Norway, San Marino, Switzerland, Vatican City and the United Kingdom (England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland).

Finding the IBAN

To transfer money abroad, you need your International Bank Account Number (IBAN).

You can find your own IBAN on your debit card and your account statements. The IBAN consists of 18 letters and digits and starts with the country code (NL in the case of the Netherlands). You can find the IBAN of the recipient (beneficiary) on the invoice or you can ask the recipient for their IBAN.

Payments from an account outside the SEPA region

If you want to receive money from a country outside the SEPA region, you must make sure the payer has our BIC (SWIFT address) and your IBAN.

Our BIC (SWIFT address) is RABONL2U. If you need a BIC with 11 characters, enter RABONL2UXXX. An example of a correct IBAN is NL44 RABO 0123 4567 89. The address used with Rabobank’s BIC is Croeselaan 18, 3521 CB Utrecht.

Payment details for each country

Before you travel abroad, always check the payment details for each country you intend to visit. This includes useful information for international payments, such as the country code and the currency.
