Exchange rates for payments and withdrawals in a foreign currency
We apply reference exchange rates if you make a payment with your debit card or credit card or withdraw cash abroad in a foreign currency. These rates are set by MasterCard and VISA, with an exchange rate surcharge and additional fees in some cases.
Exchange rate and fees for foreign currency
If you transfer money in a currency other than the currency of your account, or you receive money in another currency, the transfer is a World Payment. We use an exchange rate to convert the amount you are transferring. This exchange rate includes a surcharge (a fee you pay for exchanging money), which we also refer to as currency exchange fees. To see exactly what you have paid, check your transaction details or your statement.
We apply three different surcharges. The amount you pay depends on the currency involved. The surcharge is lower for commonly used currencies.
