Imagine: you are on vacation and your debit card and credit card have been stolen or are lost. Luckily, it doesn’t have to ruin your vacation. Apply for emergency cash and you’ll still have enough money to visit that special museum or restaurant. Read here to find out how it works, what it costs and the conditions that apply.

How to apply for emergency cash

Explain the situation to us

Tell us your account number, where you are and what amount you want to withdraw, up to a maximum of €6,200

Answer the security questions

We then block your card

We tell you where and when you can collect the money

This is usually within two working days at a Western Union branch near your location

Go to Western Union to collect the money

Take a valid proof of identity with you, such as your passport

We deduct the amount and applicable fees

We do this within 24 hours

You can apply for emergency cash if you satisfy the following conditions:

    You have no other way to pay. You have blocked your credit card and debit card. When you collect the money, you take a valid ID with you such as your passport. Emergency cash requests are not possible without a valid proof of identity. We deduct the fees for requesting emergency cash from your account.

We cannot provide emergency cash in every country

You can apply for emergency cash in most countries. It’s possible in all European countries except Estonia, Luxembourg and Serbia, and in the United States.

But there are countries where it is not possible, such as Brazil. And in other countries, such as Spain and Italy, special rules apply to emergency cash. What if you’re in a country where emergency cash requests are not possible? Another solution is for a family member or friend to transfer you money.
