A banking power of attorney authorizes someone else to use your account

If you grant a banking power of attorney, you authorize someone else to arrange your banking matters. A banking power of attorney is often temporary and granted because, for example, you are traveling around the world. The person you authorize can be your partner or a member of your family. You remain the owner of the account and you can grant a banking power of attorney to multiple people. Apply for a separate power of attorney for each person. No fees are charged for a banking power of attorney.

Information on what a person with a banking power of attorney can, and cannot do, is provided below. If you want this person to be able to do everything, you will need a notarial power of attorney (Dutch), which is also referred to as a will. This is a different type of power of attorney, which can be arranged through a civil-law notary.

What can a person with a banking power of attorney do, and what can they not do?
