Contactless payments using Apple Pay

Making contactless payments with Apple Pay is fast, easy and secure. You don’t need to enter a PIN code or insert a debit card into a card reader. It means that instead of paying with your physical cards and cash, you use your iPhone or Apple Watch.

How does Apple Pay work?

Anywhere you can make a contactless payment, you can also pay with Apple Pay. You activate Apple Pay in the Rabo App. You add your Rabo debit card or credit card digitally to the Apple Wallet. How to pay with Apple Pay

Contactless payments using Apple Pay are based on NFC (Near Field Communication). This technology allows your iPhone or Apple Watch to communicate with the payment terminal. Paying with Apple Pay works as follows:

Step 1

With Face ID: click twice on the side button and log in with Face ID or your access code. With Touch ID: Place your finger on the Touch ID sensor (Home button).

Step 2

Hold your iPhone or Apple Watch within 10 centimeters of the payment terminal.

Step 3

You’ll see a confirmation on the payment terminal (Done) and your iPhone or Apple Watch (Tick) when the payment is complete.

Where can I pay with Apple Pay?

In stores

Apple Pay is a fast and secure way to pay in stores with your iPhone and Apple Watch. It allows you to pay quickly with your phone or watch, which you always have with you. Anywhere you can make a contactless payment with your debit card, you can also pay with Apple Pay.

    Pay with Face ID
    To pay with Face ID, press the on/off button on the side twice, look at the screen on your phone and hold your iPhone close to the reader of the payment terminal.     Pay with Touch ID access code
    For Touch ID, hold your iPhone near the payment terminal and confirm with your finger on the home button. If you use an access code, use it to confirm the payment.     Pay with Apple Watch
    For Apple Watch, press the on/off button on the side twice and hold your Apple Watch near the reader of the payment terminal.

Online

There are an increasing number of companies, webshops and apps where you can pay with Apple Pay. You can recognize them from the Apple logo. You also use Face ID or Touch ID to do so. The advantage is that you can choose to have your e-mail address protected and your delivery details filled in automatically.
