Never lend anyone your debit card
Never let someone else use your debit card or credit card. Don’t leave your cards lying around. Always put your debit card in a safe place. Regularly check that you still have your card on you. Never give your debit card to people who pretend to be couriers or bank employees. We will never ask you to do that.
Criminals tell you your card is no longer secure
Don’t be fooled by scammers who tell you your debit card is no longer secure. Scammers use a pretext to convince you to give them your debit card. Never give your debit card to someone else! Do not send the card to anyone either.
Why shouldn’t I lend anyone my debit card?
Fraudsters can use your debit card to withdraw and launder money. Fraudsters are criminals who use lies and tricks to obtain your personal details and your money. They can also swap your debit card for another debit card, without you knowing. Fortunately, this type of fraud is becoming less and less common.
Can you use another person’s credit card?
You may not use another person’s credit card. Because it’s basically stealing their money. Always use your own credit card and do not lend your credit card to anyone. Not even to people who say they work at the bank. We will never ask you to do this.
What can someone do with my debit card or credit card?
If a scammer gets their hands on your debit card, they can use it to make the maximum contactless payment. And repeat it a number of times. It means the scammer can withdraw money from your payment account. Our advice is to set the maximum amount for contactless payments at the standard amount of €50. When entering your PIN, always make sure that no one is watching. Always conceal the keypad with your hand.
What do I do if my debit card has been stolen?
