Rabo Youth Account

The Rabo Youth Account is for children aged 0 to 18. It’s a payment account for children to gain experience with money – and with pocket money, for example. Your child may not use the payment account much at first, but the older they get, the more often they’ll use it. As their parent, you manage the payment account and can decide what your child is and isn’t allowed to do until your child turns 18.

Payment of €5 per month will take place on the first working day of each new month, starting after the account is opened, for a duration of 5 months.

Go to ‘Settings’ in your Rabo App or Rabo Online Banking and then select ‘Payment accounts’. This is where you’ll find the ‘Banking with your child’ dashboard to configure the Rabo Youth Account. For example, you can create alerts and determine the amount of money your child is allowed to spend or transfer. This means you, as the child’s parent, are in control.

If you open a Rabo Youth Account for your child, your child will receive €7.50 of pocket money as a gift. In addition, €2.50 will be donated automatically to Stichting Jarige Job. Good for you and good for children in the Netherlands who need it.

Some children in the Netherlands are unable to celebrate their birthday because they don’t have the money at home to do so. Stichting Jarige Job helps these children by giving them a birthday box that contains what they need for a real birthday, both at home and at school!

Yes, the Rabo Youth Account is a free payment account for your child.

* The first eight deposits per year are free. As of the ninth deposit, you pay €10 per deposit. Important! Depositing coins and banknotes is considered as two separate deposits. The fee will be debited from the Rabo Youth Account.

Yes, you can. The Rabo Savings Account teaches your child how important it is to put money aside. The Rabo Savings Account is a savings account in the name of your child. Your child will be in control of the savings and will be able to transfer money, check their balance and save automatically with ease – with some of their pocket money, for example.

How does it work?

In order to open a Rabo Savings Account, your child must have a Rabo Youth Account with access to Rabo Online Banking. Once that’s been arranged, you can easily open a Rabo Savings Account. Your child can also apply for the account. In that case, you must give permission as their parent. Children aged 16 or over can open the bank account themselves. You can easily open a Rabo Savings Account using the ‘Banking with your child’ dashboard in the Rabo App.

You can open the Rabo Youth Account for a child aged between 0 and 18. You decide when you’re ready to do so.

Your child can’t open the bank alone, not even at the age of 16 or 17.

When your child turns 18, we’ll automatically convert the bank account into Rabo Free.

No, you don’t. You can open a Rabo Youth Account for your child without being a customer. Simply contact Rabobank. You just won’t be able to use the Rabo App, so you won’t be able to do things like adjust payment limits or set alerts. You’ll receive monthly account statements instead.
