Examples of phishing

Criminals use fake messages to ‘fish’ for your personal data, called phishing. Check out the examples of phishing messages on this page, where you can discover the tricks criminals use online to deceive you. However, we don’t have examples of every type of phishing. What if you receive a message that doesn’t resemble any of the examples, but looks suspicious? Do not click on the links and report the message.

This is how you know the message is fake:

  1. The address to which you are asked to send your debit card is not Rabobank's address.
  2. The explanation in the letter is incorrect: we do not ask you to return your debit card to us.
  3. The explanation of how to cut your debit card in half does not mean that the chip in the debit card can no longer be used. Want to make a debit card unusable? Always cut right through the chip.
