Moving abroad temporarily
You may sometimes live abroad temporarily, for example, for work or study. In many cases, you can continue using your existing services. However, you cannot expand them or take out any new products or services.
If you live temporarily in a country outside the EEA for up to three years, you may not need to terminate your products during your stay in some cases. If this applies to you, you will receive a message in Rabo Online Banking or an email after reporting your move.
Do you live in Australia, the United States, or the United Kingdom? Special regulatory requirements apply. This arrangement may not apply to you.
KYC customer due diligence reviews
In addition to our policy for customers living abroad, we conduct customer due diligence reviews as part of Know Your Customer, or KYC, to help protect the financial system.
We may ask you additional questions about your move abroad. As a bank, we are required to understand why our customers bank with us and for what purpose they use their products.
Based on this information, we assess whether continuing the customer relationship still makes sense. If the customer relationship no longer makes sense, we reserve the right to terminate it.
Additional insurance information
Moving abroad may affect your insurance coverage. The effect on your coverage differs by insurance policy and depends on the policy terms and conditions and applicable law.
It is therefore important to check whether your insurance still provides coverage.
Cancel your insurance. You can do this through the Rabo App or Rabo Internet Banking. If you are unable to do so, contact us.

Foreign-resident surcharge on your payment account
Since 1 September 2022, you have paid more for your payment account if you live abroad. We call this a foreign-resident surcharge.
It may therefore be more cost-effective to switch to a bank in the country where you live. You will receive a message about this.
