Have you accidentally paid for something twice, made a payment to the wrong account or forgotten to stop an automatic transfer? We explain below what you can do.
How to get your money back after an incorrect payment
If you have transferred too much money or paid for something twice, please contact the individual or business that the account belongs to. We are not able to get your money back for you. You can recover the amount by, for example, creating a payment request (Dutch).
If you automatically transfer an amount to a specific account number every week or month and the amount transferred is too high or too low, you can adjust your recurring payment.
If you have transferred money to the wrong account number, please contact the individual or business that the account belongs to.
If you do not know who this is, transfer €0.01 to the account number and include a request to repay the amount in the description field. If the recipient does not respond, please contact us to explore other options.
If you have bought something on Marktplaats or in an online store and you do not receive the product, ask the recipient to refund the amount you paid. If you do not get a refund or you are unable to get in touch with the recipient, you might be able to obtain the recipient’s address in certain cases.
If you have you bought something in an online store and made a mistake when paying by iDEAL | Wero or PayPal, please contact the online store.
If the online store does not cooperate or cannot be reached, please contact Thuiswinkel.org (the trade association for Dutch online stores).
If something goes wrong when you buy a product online or sign up for a subscription using your debit or credit card (for example, there is an issue with your payment or you are dissatisfied with the product or service you receive), try to resolve the matter with the seller first. If you cannot resolve the matter with the seller, we will see if we can help you.
